Folger-GW Undergraduate Research Seminar

The Folger-GW Undergraduate Research Seminar is a semester-length, multi-disciplinary seminar for advanced students held at the Folger Shakespeare Library. The focus of the course is “Books and Early Modern Culture,” an investigation of the history of printed books up until 1700. Students in the seminar are registered as readers at the Folger with unrestricted access for twelve months to the Library’s rare and modern collections; students who wish to continue their research after a year can apply to have their reading privileges renewed. More information about the seminar can be found at www.folger.edu/undergraduates, including a recent syllabus. There are also a number of posts about the program at the Folger’s blog, The Collation, at http://collation.folger.edu/tag/undergraduate/.

Admission to the seminar is by application only, with room for up to 12 students. Students who will be in their junior or senior years are eligible to apply.

Applications are due March 31st; information on the application and admission process are online at www.folger.edu/undergraduates. GW students should follow the links for “application information” and “GWU”; they can also go directly to http://www.folger.edu/template.cfm?cid=2811.
